IKSURF: What challenges did you face during the development process of the Vida kite, and how did you tackle them to achieve the desired performance and usability?
TL: The greatest challenge was to achieve high stability and ease of use with an outstanding depower at the same time. This was missing in the world of race kites. The main issue is that both characteristics are susceptible to tiny design changes to the profile shape, billow shape, arc etc... going through these parameters with prototypes alone would have been impossible. I thus used the new version of my simulation program, initially developed for powered paragliding sail design, to better refine the compromise between stability and depower. As a result, you will feel that the wind range is infinite on this kite with a wide usable trimmer range .
