French rider Maxime Desjardins is competing in the
GKA (Global Kitesports Association) Hydrofoil freestyle World Cup in Fortaleza, Brazil. It is a combined event with the
GWA (Global Wingsports Association) Wingfoiling World Cup, and runs from 16th - 21st November 2021.
The world's best riders are competing in this new and fast-growing discipline, and this is Maxime's first competition. The judges score on height, execution, commitment and innovation.
The first competition day, Wednesday 17th November, hosted the men's Rounds 1 and 2. Winners from Round 1 went directly through to Round 3; the remainder battled it out in Round 2, a high-pressure elimination round: lose your heat and you are out! Maxime Desjardins, along with Robin Steward, Reed Brady and Cesar Natoly, made it through to Round 3 which takes place on Thursday 18th November.
